The realistic list
Hotel Kria in Vik ($260, $40 pet fee) has ground-floor rooms with direct outdoor access. Fosshotel Nupar near Kirkjubaejarklaustur ($230, $30) is the most rural option with fields to walk. Skyr Guesthouse near Selfoss ($150, no fee) is family-run and genuinely happy to see dogs. In the capital, Reykjavik Marina ($240, $50) allows pets in specific rooms — book by phone, not online.
What to know first
Importing a foreign dog to Iceland is nearly impossible for tourists — expect a 14-day quarantine minimum and months of paperwork. These hotels almost exclusively serve Icelandic guests travelling with their own dogs. If you’re renting a car and dog-sitting locally, all seven listed above work. None allow pets in restaurant areas, so budget for grocery dinners on dog nights.
