The strongest chargers
Hotel Ranga has two 22kW AC chargers (free to guests). Ion Adventure Hotel has a Tesla destination charger and one CCS. Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon added four ChargePoint stations in 2024. In the north, Sel-Hotel Myvatn and Fosshotel Husavik both have 22kW units. Reykjavik hotels are more variable — Reykjavik Edition and Canopy by Hilton both have chargers in-garage, but garage access itself costs $20 a night.
Practical tips
Iceland's public network (ON, Isorka, N1) is decent but concentrated on Route 1 — the Westfjords have gaps of 150km between fast chargers. Book hotels with chargers on the longer legs (Egilsstadir to Myvatn especially). Most hotel chargers are AC not DC, so you get 40-80km of range per hour, not a full charge. Plug in the moment you arrive.
