Reliably accessible
Fosshotel Reykjavik is the strongest choice in the capital: modern build, wide corridors, proper roll-in showers in accessible rooms, and step-free access to the restaurant and lobby. Hilton Reykjavik Nordica is similar and slightly quieter. Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina has accessible harbourfront rooms, though the surrounding cobblestones in the old harbour are rough going. Grand Hotel Reykjavik has lifts that fit standard chairs and accessible rooms with turning space.
Outside Reykjavik, Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon and Fosshotel Myvatn were built to modern standards with accessible rooms as standard. Hotel Ranga has ground-floor rooms with roll-in showers and paved paths to the hot tubs, which is more than most rural hotels manage.
What to verify before booking
Older Reykjavik hotels in converted townhouses often have narrow lifts, split-level lobbies and bathrooms with steps into the shower. Kvosin, Borg and 101 all have some access but not full. Rural guesthouses are usually first-floor bedrooms only and should not be assumed accessible even if the site says so.
Ask three questions when booking: door width for the accessible room and its bathroom in centimetres, whether the shower is roll-in or has a lip, and how you get from car park to reception. Icelandic ice and gravel matter as much as interior features. Reykjavik Excursions has a wheelchair-accessible airport transfer with 24 hours' notice; standard Flybus does not. Book that at the same time as the hotel.
