How the transport actually works
Flybus runs Keflavik airport to the BSI bus terminal in Reykjavik every 35-45 minutes, 3,999 ISK one-way. Inside the city, Straeto buses cover everything on a 550 ISK flat fare or the Klappid app. For sights outside the city, you use day tours — Reykjavik Excursions, Grayline and Arctic Adventures all pick up from central hotels between 8 and 9am. No car needed, no car wanted.
The three tours that matter: Golden Circle (11,000-14,000 ISK, 8 hours), South Coast to Reynisfjara (13,000-16,000 ISK, 10 hours), and either Blue Lagoon transfer combo or Sky Lagoon shuttle. Book direct on the operator sites; hotel desks add commission.
The three-day plan
Day 1: land, Flybus to Reykjavik, walk the harbour and Laugavegur, dinner at Icelandic Street Food (bowls under 2,500 ISK). Day 2: Golden Circle day tour with a Secret Lagoon add-on. Day 3: South Coast tour to Vik and back. Evening: Sky Lagoon shuttle for the sunset soak. Sleep all three nights in central Reykjavik near Hlemmur or the Old Harbour so tour pickups are five minutes on foot. Fly home day 4, Flybus back to Keflavik three hours before departure.

Can I do the Ring Road without a car?
Only in summer, using the Straeto 51 and 56 buses plus internal Air Iceland flights. It takes 10 days minimum and is a real commitment. Most no-car visitors stick to day tours from Reykjavik.
Do I need to tip tour guides?
No. Tipping is not expected in Iceland and guides are paid a proper wage. A thank-you is enough.
